パワードスーツの概念は1959年に米国で刊行されたロバート・Ａ・ハインラインのＳＦ小説「宇宙の戦士」によってつくられた。（モビルスーツももともとパワードスーツのイメージだったそうだ。）そして、これを一番最初にカタチにしようとしたのがGE（米国General Electric社）だ。この「Hardiman」は1965年に生まれた最初のパワードスーツというわけだ。

「680kgの物をたやすく持ち上げる」ことが目指された。

しかしこのプロジェクトは失敗に終わったそうだ。残念！
